Elfreda Desvignes is a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, running to bring fair opportunity, responsive leadership, and a stronger future to families across Georgia. A long-time Georgian committed community activist, and part-time business owner, she has dedicated her life to advocating for working families and strengthening the communities she calls home.

Originally from Long Island, Elfreda moved to Georgia in 2000 in search of a place where her children could thrive and where strong community values were woven into everyday life. As a single mother raising three children, she experienced firsthand the barriers many families face—affordable housing, access to quality education, reliable transportation, and the need for economic stability. These experiences shaped her belief that government must be a force for fairness, dignity, and practical solutions. For more than two decades, Elfreda has served communities across Cobb County and the Greater Atlanta area, taking on leadership roles in local advocacy efforts and working directly with residents to address neighborhood challenges. Her work has always been grounded in listening, collaboration, and building bridges. Her commitment to service earned her a nomination for the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, a meaningful recognition of her dedication to uplifting others.

Elfreda has also participated in leadership and policy training programs in Washington, D.C., gaining valuable insight into the policymaking process and strengthening her belief that everyday people deserve a real voice in government. As a business owner, she understands the importance of economic opportunity and the vital role small businesses play in building strong, resilient communities.

In 2024, Elfreda ran for U.S. Congress as a write-in candidate, demonstrating her determination to represent her community and elevate issues that too often go unheard. Now, she is running again with a clear and focused mission: to fight for policies that reflect the values of fairness and opportunity—issues that matter deeply to families across Georgia.

Her priorities include expanding access to affordable healthcare, protecting voting rights, investing in public education, supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs, and ensuring every family has a pathway to economic security.
